Tracking in Caves is an on-going project that, since the beginnings, has developed in divers directions. Main steps of its history are summarised here in chronological order. The roots of Tracking in Caves-project reach back to 2008. Tracking in Caves started with the initial project in 2013. It received intense media coverage. In order to create a digital data set of prehistoric human tracks also analysed by the trackers, footprints were scanned in Pech-Merle in 2014. An important step for the future orientation of Tracking in Caves was the homecoming-project in 2015. In 2016 preparations were made for upcoming research projects. The following years were of considerable importance for the project: an international conference was organised in 2017 and field research continued in Namibia and France in 2018.
